A mortician has a hard day at work.

Yasmine is a talented mortician, she is renowned for her work and making the deceased look their best for their departure into the afterlife. But today Yasmine’s world will be turned upside down as she encounters the most difficult job of her career, becoming very much part of the 'process' she is brought face to face with the small and life-defining moments that she has let pass by.

The concept:

Settled in 2 different periods, 2019 and 1999, THE PASSING is a twisted love story, a memory of a teenage romance and its confrontation in the actual days.

The story was also very original, picturing a mortician at work, so it was a challenge for me to make a morgue for the first time. We shot in a former morgue, which was a good location for the start but demanded a lot of research about the profession.

The colours came from nature, specially in the 90’s, so we had a lot of pinks, reds, yellows and greens.

For 2019, we chose to work mainly with whites, grays and deep brows, showing a more sad mood.

1999

2019

1999

In the 90s, we tried to capture the blossom of this romance, and so the flowers and butterflies were very present, symbolising beauty, transformation, rebirth, and hope.

The colours came from nature, specially in the 90’s, so we had a lot of pinks, reds, yellows and greens.

2019

For 2019, we still have a hint of colours, but it’s very punctual. Just as  Yasmine life, the whites, grays and the neutral colours prevail in the ambients.
