A short film that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the flight of the 14 Bis - which took place in Paris, 1906, one of the very first airplanes ever created, designed by aviation pioneer the Brazilian Alberto Santos Dumont. Here's Dumont's challenges and obstacles faced while developing something heavier than the air and that could actually fly with wings instead of just making another balloon, presenting his important development to the world.

The concept:
Being a famous public figure, especially in Brazil, and the 14 Bis’s first flight being a significant fact worldwide, the backbone of my research was the historical data, people, and places mentioned in the script.
Having this, an accurate study of the artistic movements in force at the time, made it possible to fill the gaps in the missing pieces.
We wanted to be sure that the script's accurate historical rigour would also be present in the architecture, decor, clothing, and hair style. Therefore, the costumes came from Portugal and many original art nouveau pieces were used in the set design.
The hangar:
In 1900, Santos Dumont obtained authorization from the French Aero Club to build a large wooden shed at the St. Cloud Aerostation.
The first aircraft hangar in history was being built! There, along his collaborators, he made his experiments and along his team, constructed many flying machines.

Le Maxim’s:
Still one of the most famous french restaurants, Le Maxim’s at the time, was the centre of social and culinary of Paris. Home for elite and artists, Santos-Dumont was a regular guest.
The interiors, an Art Nouveau masterpiece made historic monument now, was decorated with glass ceiling, murals, mahogany and brass and bronze details everywhere. Tiffany’s lamps, red velvet accents and a stage with a piano complementing the atmosphere, was a matter of course.

Location-Vila Penteado
The location was an original Art Nouveau house at São Paulo - Vila Penteado- where the beautiful architecture help us to recreate the famous restaurant. The furniture, fabrics, mirrors, glass mosaics and all details possible were added to make it closer to the original one.
